| February 17, 2012 | Backpacking - 4 days & 3 nights - 15km, 15km, 13 km, 9km | 4 Day Backpacking Adventure | This trip had it all! We started our first day by passing through Dundas Vally, and passing many little water falls. Ending the first day in the Iroquoia Heights Conservation Area, where we saw many dear :) Our second day we passed through the downtown core on our little strip of green trail. We met a sorts of people, some that run up/down an area with 500 stairs. We stopped to watch them as we had lunch lol. We then followed an old rail bed for most of our second day, cutting off into King's Forrest to end our day beside Red Hill Creek. Our third day, our backs were sore and some of us had blisters on our feet. We were close to a set of active train tracks and we saw a train pass, even got him to honk :) We we not going very fast but we did make it to the day's end point. Suddenly the group turned on the energy and ignored their pains and we started making our best pass all trip! We voted and decided to see if we could finish the trip a day early. We were almost Jogging the last 9km, and finish it we did! We then went for dinner. All of us got the chicken and ribs, mmmm! |
| February 4, 2012 | Backpacking - Overnight Trip | Backpacking | What a fun trip! There were many high places to look out across Hamilton towards Lake Ontario. And we passed about 7 really nice waterfalls! The spring like weather had us in our t-shirts and sliding down some very muddy hills! Somehow none of us wiped out, although there were countless close calls! This trail was a good mix of hills and flat stretches and mostly through the trees. |
| January 11, 2012 | Hike - Night - Forest | Night Hike at Kelso Lake | Starting at the bottom of a ski hill, we used an over pass to get to the very muddy start of our hike. I am sure I wil be coming back to this place. It had some great lookout points and as we neared the finish, we noticed the skiers had all gone home. We sat on our coats and slid down the ski hill on our butts! Soo much fun! Be warned, the parking lot gates lock at 9:30pm. |
| January 7, 2012 | Indoor Rink - Welcome 2012 With Us | Roller Skate/Blade Night | Happy New Year! It was fun to be bopping along to the music on skates. Some of the staff lifeguarding the rink were not so friendly, and they did not have my size in inline skates (13). But there are not many other places to go for this kind of nightclub type skating. |
| December 9, 2011 | Hike - Night - Forrest | Full Moon Midnight Hike | An outstanding success! Earlier in the day there had been some light flurries and then the sky completely cleared up for the hike. The small amount of fresh snow seemed to amplify the effect of the full moon, reflecting light everywhere. We we able to do the whole trail with out our flashlights and you could hear "It is like daylight!" said several times during the trip! No one was cold at all. Though I am sure it was -1, our steady walking and being sheltered from the breeze (by the forest) had us all getting warm enough that we had to take off our hats and mitts form time to time. Having completed the trek in about 2.5 hours we went to a pizza place, and then to a Tim's for some hot coco, mmmm. |
| November 12, 2011 | Survival Skills | Surviving In The Woods | Wow that was really fun! I stayed to "survive the night." Woke up at midnight and the full moon was shining right overhead. I was able to go for a little night-hike without my flashlight. The fire kept me nice and warm all night, but I did need to gather more wood, next time I will have a bigger pile. I woke up at about 7 am, the birds were singing, squirrels were full of energy and a family of deer came right into my camp. The mom stopped to look at me for about 10 min and then ran off when I finally moved. All in all a great trip!! |
| September 24, 2011 | Hiking - Forrest - Overnight | Hike the Falling Water Loop - 31KM (Very Hard Trail) | On this trail we passed many little water falls and some really big ones! The Falling Water Trail forms a rugged and scenic loop around the Beaver Valley section of the Bruce Trail. Trip included: escarpment edges, limestone cliffs, maple woodlots, open fields, steep slopes, grueling ascents, many small streams, waterfalls, pools and much more!! |

| August 27, 2011 | Backpacking - Forrest - Overnight | 2 day + 1 Night Backpacking Trip | This first day passed into The Dingle and then Glen Haffy Conservation. Most of the trail is in the woods but you do cross a few fields and come to an outstanding lookout! Our 2nd day the packs were a little lighter but our shoulders were raw from our packs giggeling. From Airport Rd. to Hockley Rd the trail takes you back and forth between deep valleys and along high ridges. Then we passed through the heart of Hockley Valley with its many rivers. As the trail comes to an end there are many apple tries and some open fields We stoped at a nice bench to cool off before getting to the car :) |
| August 13, 2011 | Hike - Fields & Forrest | Hike the Clay Hills (Easy and less than 15km) | This is an easy end to end hike (not a loop) Passing a wild apple trees on the north side of Kettle lake was a yummy treat! There are wonderful homes on the short walk down Dominion St.. Finishing the hike at the clay mounds they were very cool to look at and play on! After picking up the car we left at the start of the trail we headed to an icecream/coffee shop in Belfountain :D |
